The story of Bharata

Bharata is rama's brother who rejected a throne gained through his mother's intrigue and ruled only as trustee. Son of Dasharatha and Kaikeyi; husband of Mandavi.

Away when Kaikeyi demanded Rama's exile, he returned to find his father dead and Ayodhya in grief.

He condemned his mother's actions and went to the forest to beg Rama to return.

When Rama refused, Bharata placed Rama's sandals on the throne and governed from Nandigrama as regent.

He welcomed Rama back after fourteen years and restored the kingdom without rivalry.
