Biography

The story of Brahma

Brahma is four-faced creator associated with knowledge, cosmic ordering and the birth of beings. Consort of Saraswati in major traditions; born from the lotus of Vishnu in Vaishnava accounts.

At the beginning of a cycle he emerges and organizes worlds, beings and time.

His four faces symbolize the Vedas and the directions of knowledge.

Puranic stories also portray mistakes, pride and curses that explain why his worship is less widespread than that of Vishnu or Shiva.

He remains part of the Trimurti as the principle of creation within recurring cosmic cycles.
