Dhruva

Dhruva is young prince whose wounded pride matured into intense devotion and an eternal place in the sky. Son of King Uttanapada and Suniti.

Rejected from his father's lap by his stepmother, he left the palace seeking a status no one could take away.

Narada taught him a Vishnu mantra, and the child performed extraordinary austerity in the forest.

Vishnu appeared and offered boons; Dhruva's anger dissolved in the presence of the divine.

He later ruled wisely and was granted an enduring celestial position as the pole star.
