Mahabali is grandson of Prahlada whose devotion and charity survived even the loss of his cosmic kingdom. Son of Virochana; grandson of Prahlada.
Through courage and discipline he conquered the three worlds and ruled with prosperity.
His power alarmed the gods, but his reputation for keeping promises remained unshaken.
When Vamana asked for three steps of land, Bali honored the gift even after recognizing Vishnu.
He was sent to Sutala with divine protection and is believed in Kerala tradition to return during Onam.
