Shikhandi is reborn figure whose life was dedicated to ending Bhishma's power. Born as Amba in a previous life; later child of Drupada.

As Amba, Shikhandi's earlier life was ruined when Bhishma abducted the Kashi princesses and then refused marriage.

Amba undertook severe austerities and was reborn in Drupada's house to become the cause of Bhishma's death.

Traditions describe Shikhandi living as a man after an exchange with a yaksha.

On Kurukshetra, Bhishma refused to fight Shikhandi, allowing Arjuna's arrows to strike him down.
