Urmila is often-silent heroine who remained in Ayodhya while Lakshmana served Rama for fourteen years. Daughter of Janaka; sister of Sita; wife of Lakshmana.

She married Lakshmana in the joint wedding that united Mithila and Ayodhya.

When Lakshmana chose forest exile, she accepted a long separation so he could serve without divided attention.
