The story of Vishwamitra

Vishwamitra is former king whose fierce austerity transformed him into a Brahmarshi and mentor of Rama. Once King Kaushika; rival and later equal of Vasistha.

After being humbled by Vasistha's spiritual power, he renounced kingship and pursued severe tapas.

His long path included anger, rivalry, temptation and repeated renewal of discipline.

He took Rama and Lakshmana to protect his sacrifice, taught them mantras and weapons, and led them to Mithila.

Eventually Vasistha acknowledged him as Brahmarshi, completing his transformation.
